Project Statement

INTIMATE SECRETLY TZU-CHIEN YUAN

Background Human civilization started from “the fire light”. Obviously light is the smallest but the most fundamental element composed to the image, that is why we can see all of the objects,which are the most important media for visualization. With the development of civilization, we cannot see by the physical limitation. With the improvement of technology, these kinds of hypothesis become real and normal in our daily life, such as microscope and x-ray. It is not only the revolution of our experience, but also helps us to break through in many different technologies, and then improve our standard of living, perhaps initially these phenomena could not be predicted in the ancient human society.

WHY In recent architectural projects, which aim to achieve the process of visualizing, from visible view to invisible, the idea about “transparency” seems like the most appropriate demonstration in many projects for a long period. With the growth of extreme development of technologies, it applies to many dimensions in architecture, especially in texture, material and construction. Reflecting to my project, I aim to define the means of transparency and apply suitable method of drawing and conception into my project.

WHAT My project is about how I dealing with the space from invisible to visible, due to the transparency I define, it would be divided into two parts. Firstly, how I illustrate the object in my idea at transparency, such as “light” from actual to virtual world. Secondly, how I use my imaginations to draw the real and physical objects and space to spatial consciousness.

HOW I would like to explore the mix media apply the painting, at same time use some techniques such as Scanner Photocopy Projector, any method which aim to laying my work

If we are living in a world, which is full of digital devices, how can we measure the spatial? How can we measure distance? Due to the progress transportation, the scale when people are used to has changed dramatically. You can fly from Taipei to London just take you13 hours, in the past it could be spent all people's whole life, not just distance, such as the way we used to communicate has been change in the same idea, you can talk with you friend across the border, whenever, wherever however. Recently, Google Maps has become common place, it is a amazing tool. Because you can be in Taipei sat in front of you laptop and check the place anywhere in the world, the perspective no longer limited by physical limitations, therefore, I am inspire this phenomenon.

From this perspective, one can consider any place conceptually. In relation to my project which talks about transparency a device like Google Earth allows us to see further. We can image and also we cannot see or have never been to. Space has become more complex

The aim is to creates a substructure of my drawing by covering many layer of any space which is my observation. I attempt to covering my layer of gesso with wireframe architectural drawing, at same time use my imagination illustrate the relationship what kind of the spaces in my observation, and then overlapping the shapes of the object ( ex architecture, light, ) guide to the narratives unfolding the layers that will follow.” As artist Siemon Allen describe Meheretu’s Method,” Paradoxically, the construction of the painting is like a serious of erasures, each stage eradicating the last” I try to approach this way to build up the method at my drawing. Furthermore, the history is still not entirely take out ,Rather it is reinscribed. Erasure operates not such as destructive but as a generative force.

Obscure scenes lead to my studio

Extend my last week work , which i mention about the google map this kind of digital tool, you can see everywhere in anywhere, i aim to narrow this conception and apply in the reality space, i make this experiment which call camera obscure, i trend my small studio as a dark room , put the black paper in the window, make and then make of small hole in the black paper, let the scenes reflect into my studio, and the illustrate the light and shape of the building outside of my flat, in this sense , the image throughout the window which we can't see, and than i apply this simple theory let me can see in my studio, it is hope that i will explored this technique and apply in my project which i talk about transparency

which mean the space we can see through , in that sense apply at such google earth this device which

can help us the image and mapping there are many place we can't see, it seem like does not make sense

before, however as a citizen live in the modern world, no thing impossible.

Drawing Method
